The Greek cycling family is in mourning for the loss of Elias
Kelesidis. Kelesidis passed away on March 30th, 2007 at the age of 54
from heart failure. Being a member of the Greek National Road Team for
more than 10 years (years 1978-88) he had achieved many distinctions.
Gold medals in Balcan and other international road races and taking part
in the Olympic Games in Los Angeles in 1984 are some of his achievements
throughout his cycling career. Even after he decided to put an end in his
career, his impact in Greek cycling was significant. He became National
Coach, applied new training techniques, and with his experience and love
for his work contributed to the development of Greek cycling.
